I see Eureka in an
atmosphere unlike the surrounding area. To illustrate this I put it under
water. I replaced the clouds with lily pads like the ones at Lake Leatherwood.
A largemouth bass acts as our mass transportation or Bass Transportation as I
see it. The fish behind the bass represents Eureka Time. It’s a Bluegill with
more color. These fish are known for mixed breeding causing natural hybrids.
Note the Christ of the Ozarks needs his own air supply. Read into that as you
wish. I also put a fair amount of plant life in it to represent our Tree City
status. I think the whole piece conveys the creative nature of Eureka.
Technical info: This represents my newest
style. It starts with a drawing that gets a basic inking. Then I color it with
mostly watercolors. After that it gets a finished ink job. I do this a little
different than my normal work because I know I’m going to finish it in the
computer and I know how it need to look to work right. Using the digital medium
I begin to really bring it together. I even do some of the drawing using the
computer. When I’m finish, like all artist I sign my work. In this case I did
it using my Entous4 drawing pad. So I guess this is a hybrid of two
disciplines. The old and the new working together to make something great just
like Eureka Springs.
